Colombo burst out into spontaneous celebrations after news that Prabhakaran had been killed spread in the city. Crackers were burst and the Lankan flag was unfurled from terraces, balconies and three-wheelers. The evening saw traffic jams along the Galle Road as citizens hired cars and roamed the street with fluttering flags and horns blaring.

by your reckoning the Palenstian cause is the same as ltte. Hamas is also recognised as a terorist organisation by the US, UN and EU.

I'm not trying to be provocative and I hope all Sri Lankan's get peace but at what cost????

baldrick...now you have the whole country for yourself...as the North is now free of the LTTE....

....if you walk the northen end you could walk right into Rameshwaram (Tamil Nadu, India) Via the Rama's Bridge (Ram Sethu) of the Ramayana Epic.....

The British government had already taken steps to give him assylum, along with his wives, 100 odd kids, senior members of the hierarchy and the dog..

Congratulations for the Srilankan Army who ended up its mission to sweep out LTTE.

But there is question.. or my curiosity with fear..

where is 'Prabhakaran'? Why its not confirmed his death? Still he alive?

I think he will become the successor of 'Ladan' in IMMORTALITY. My assumption is, it will not for the good reason but for the sake of some ascertained interests.

Ocean is not so what you have seen from the top!!!

differently.

For Tamil substitute Palestinian, for Sri Lankan government substitute Israeli government.. and then the statement is you can have peace if you ruthlessly crush your enemies. It all depends on what side of the gun you are standing.

the terrorists there were created by the Army with the active help of the CIA ostensibly to fight the commies (just like Saddam was propped up by the CIA to counter the Iranians).Unfortunately Commieism is long dead but terrorism continues...as you sow so shall you reap.

been going on since the early eighties and tens of thousands of people have been killed. The LTTE is one of the most dreaded terrorist outfits in the world (they are the ones who perfected the art of suicide bombing) and bringing them to their knees is no mean achievement.

By anonymous• 18 May 2009 09:08

This is one great achievement.....This is something all countries facing terror should follow. Go on the offensive. And once it starts there should be no giving up.

The SL Army shoud now be sent to Iraq & Afghanisthan as the NATO forces seem to have no clue there.....duh!

Well done El Presidente..

Funny thing is that yesterday, the Tigers threatened mass suicide unless they were granted safe passage.. Today ................

Lets hope for peace..
