"can return to Israel if he wants"

Prosecutors say an alleged Mossad spy wanted in connection with the slaying of a Hamas leader in Dubai earlier this year has been set free on bail by a German judge on Friday.

Cologne prosecutors' spokesman Rainer Wolf said after a closed-doors hearing that the suspect known as Uri Brodsky is free to travel wherever he wants to go while judicial proceedings against him in Germany will continue.

Wolf said Brodsky could "return to Israel today if he wants to."

Prosecutors accuse Brodsky of illegally helping to procure a German passport used in connection with the Jan. 19 slaying of Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai, allegedly by a Mossad hit squad.

Israel's suspected forgery of European passports allegedly used by members of a hit squad who took part in the killing of the Hamas leader in Dubai in January annoyed several European countries, including Britain, which expelled an Israeli diplomat over the matter in March.

Police in the United Arab Emirates said the elaborate hit squad linked to the Jan. 19 slaying of Mabhouh - one of the founders of Hamas' military wing - involved some 25 suspects, most of them carrying fake passports from European nations and Australia.

Among the faked passports, according to Dubai police, was one issued in 2009 by authorities in Cologne with Brodsky's alleged involvement. The passport was issued to a man named Michael Bodenheimer, who allegedly was part of the hit squad.

Disgusting move in the part of the Germans. I hate it when justice is sold out by politics.

Reminds me of when my giverment and their comrades at BP but the pressure on to release the only convicted Lockerbie bomber under "humantitarian" grounds (a misnomer if I ever heard one). The b*stard is still alive and well (a year after his release) and living in luxury as a hero in Libya.

I HATE A SELL-OUT.

So what do you expect on oneself who precedes a case over his own brethren. Surely, its a case dismissed!

as usual, as expected, nothing new.

Ms. Exiled u made my day by saying " in the civilised world you are innocent until proven guilty"

a huge laugh for this joke.

Another land mark judgement from the "civilised, human right champion, flag bearer of justice" nation.

Btw, this is not surprising though.

That's a different subject, but those terrorists did say they are doing it because they are muslims and how many suicide bombers videos come out after the act by people claiming to be muslims and doing it for Islam?

Anyway I don't consider America part of the civilised world when they can hold people without trail for years.

and not to mention deportation of few innocents student last year from UK for a fake bomb plot how ever they were not proven guilty.

Dotcom in the civilised world you are innocent until proven guilty. This is not Iran when the case is decided in advance....

Neither me or you are experts in this case or have studied all the evidence so we cannot make pronoucments on guilt.

So an arrest warrant has been issued, its an arrest warrant not a guilty verdict.

Ms. Exiled

its not the first time, we heard the same words, not yet guilty, when it comes to european interest.

However interpol had issued warrant against him including his gang trained and supported by Israel with collaboration of some western allies.

Games within Games. Surely, acuusation of such a crime requires that he not be allowed to leave the country.

It shows the power of the Israeli lobby and perhaps that the German government wants to wash its hands of this case..

That's rather a unique decisions by the court but the underlying sentiments for the whole episode might be shared by the rest under one principle of fighting terrorism, not forging fake passport.

That's quite amazing. We do not know if he is guilty or not yet, but if he is allowed to go back to Israel if he is found guilty there is no way he will serve his sentence.
