Best mosque in Doha for Taraweeh prayers?

By northandsouth •
Would appreciate advice on which mosques in Doha could be recommended for taraweeh prayers during Ramadan. Is there any mosque in particular, where the imam recites well and with facilities for both males and females? Thank you.
Dear brothers,
Here is a list of mosques in Doha and in surrounding areas.
You may find this useful:

Bastook, could you please tell me in which place in corniche is locted the cannon.
Thanks in advance!!!
bastook. i know it moms fault. you have done the right thing by confronting the mom (hopefully in a presentable manner). Next time you find an ignorant mom...Go the extra mile and make it 'scene'.
I love and breath tolerance... but sometimes...... a jolt is what an undeserving needs......
contrary to what i have said. pursuing the scene outside prayer place will be something good. Either way you can harmlessly bring others attention to the spoilt kids. Discipline is an admirable/desirable charecter in this community..........Yet many fail to instill......
Bastook: thanks :)

it is prayer preforms in the groups only in Ramadan, and is named because they rest after each prayer, it is total of 11 prayers each night and increases the last 10 nights of Ramadan up to 21 prayers.
It is optional, men preforms it in the mosques and women are better preforming it in their homes but can in the mosques if they want to.

Al Boukhari Mosque in Al Hilal, it is near Beverly Hills compound, in Abdelkader Aljazairi Street.
There is a Mokrii (Quran reader) with a wonderful voice.
Go there and you won't regret, it really amazing, but you have to go very early otherwise, no parking place for you.
Ladies facilities are there also.
Ramadhan Moubarac to everybody.
Ramadan Tents starts after Iftar and go way late in the night.
Breakfast or Iftar cannon is to announce the time to break the fast and it goes just before the sunset prayers.
children enjoy it a lot despite the high sound

so these tents are open at iftar time? what do they have? buffet and stuff? and what is the breakfast cannon? sorry for repeating my questions but I want my children to enjoy ramadan here just as much as they have been doing every yr back home, they are too young to understand sprituality of this month but having a fun filled ramadan makes it special for them that they look forward to every yr.
bstmomeva01, Mosques don't have facilities for children. Unfortunately so many moms bring their children along and they bother the other women.
I had one incident where while praying a child of the women next to me was playing with my purse and throwing all my stuff out and running around with my car keys, and when I Complained to the mother, she said rudely he is just a kid let him play.
Ramadan tents are entertainment tents held by the hotels which have similar idea/concept as the coffee shops.
one of the things children enjoy here is going to see the Breakfast cannon at the courniche.

I have been waiting too long to attend a taraweeh, but my kids are all under the age of six, but I was wondering if there was a mosque where there is a seperate facility for children? so moms can perfrom thier prayers without having to worry about children bothering the rest or being nosiy??? We used to have something like that back in Canada, where they would arraneg babysitters for ramadan or other important religious events. and are thier any special eid events for families?? This is my first ramadan here so I got alot of questions..as I will miss family and friends back home:(((Ramadan used to be one of the best months for us and kids really looked forward to going out for iftar every day and than week full of fun eid activities, which reminds me, what are Ramadan tents? I keep reading about it here and there and am not to sure what that is all about?
Dewan amiri. its nice. good location
or omar bin khattab
I used to go to one by Salwa road in Ain Khaled area (called Al Thani). I find peace over there and the Imam has a nice voice. it is big there fore there is 2 floors
the top floor for women and also there is a small section for them down stars for those who can't climb the stairs.
one of the reasons I enjoy going there is when I pray upstairs there aren't children crying and screaming.
but when I got married last year, I preformed the prayers at home.
it was much easier, relaxing and meaningful and I finished the Qura'an 3 times.

Hi everybody,
I am supposed to be moving to Doha from Saudi Arabia in one month time. Here in Saudi Arabia, the masjids are numerous in the residential areas so that one alwayas has a masjid close to one's residence. I want in Doha to have masjid close to the residence. How is the situation in Doha in this regard.
Alhamdulillah always may Allah accept all our prayers always :-) don't forget praying to us brothers ;-)
He is no more in Qatar :(
Ramadan on its Way.......:)

according to me,my favourite mosque is in frij nasser named mohamed bin jaber althani mosque..i think its best cuz i byhearted quran for three years (second) the best imam sheikh farooq who was my ustad(teacher),is just a copy of shuraim and recites quran in more than 7 melodies..subhanalla third we had an imam named sheikh ismael who left but sheikh nasser brings him every ramadan as he his voice is v.v sweet and he won the quran competition of al qassim twice, both imaams are great qaaris from bangladesh...(the country known for best quran reciters after egypt)...finally in qiyam prayers every day new qaaris are brought from all corners of qatar, sumtimes beautiful children lead prayer sumtimes i lead prayer in taraweeh...this masjid is 45 years old..u will be accompanied with tea, coffee in qiyam prayers with iftaar too..of chicken majboos, pepsi everything..ladies entrance is different...the next beautiful masjid is the grand masjid in fruits and vegetables market...this imaam is of somali or sudaani nationality but the govt has given qatars nationaity as he is the one of the best in the gulf..his name is sheikh abdulrahman as soufi,,very very melodius and beautiful recitation of quran as if u will melt in his voice....every rakah he recites in the other riwayah(as there r seven types of recitation, mostly in qatar hafs is popular)he recites in every type..ladies entrance is diff..i just go to these two masjids but heard corniches masjids imam is also popular..i went there but not in taraweeh..its the sheikh hamads mosque..next to his office(the big green one)these all masjids have separate ladies entrance...one more masjid i know is the arab round-about masjid...its also good and made just like our prohphets(pbuh) masjid in madina munawwara..make dua for us also jazakalla.
Dear Brothers,
Theses are the Masgids that I prayed at with my family, where they all pray 20 rik3at in each they read 1 page so by the end of Ramadan they can finish reading the whole Quran:
1. Grand Masgid (Cornishe: Sheikh Karadawi)
2. Thursday & Friday R/B Masgid (Sheikh AbdelRashid Sufi, every year he reads a diffrent Riwaya or Qira2a and every night he does Kiyam reading 3 chapters)
3. Bukhari Masgid (Hilal area I guess, a young sheikh wz a beautiful voice Mash'Allah, he prays on 8 rika'at per night but also manages to finish reading the Quran as he does Kiyam in the last 10 days of Ramadan)
4. The last Masgid is just after Jarir Bookstore Ramada but I can't recall the name also vnice recitations Mash'Allah.....
All Masgids are houses of Allah, and you'll find mercy in all insh'Allah but its nice to be in one where you feel comfortablbe and enjoy the recitation.
Ramadan Kareeem for all
Don't forget Doua'a

From what I have read, the mosques are supposed to acrt as places of worship and also places for the community to meet , interact etc.
I agree that one should not make a nuisance of himself and rowdiness , especially by children should be controlled.
A mosque is a place of worship - not a place to dilly-dally.
NEVER. There are masjid ettiquettes once we do our prayers
we must silently walk out of the masjid.
In Fanar they have separate Hall where the sisters can discuss their tales. But in other masjids there is no separate area.
and the young women r really scared of these elders.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
ecosavyy...the way u said is probably a fact but its funny the way u said PICNIC SPOT
In some Masjids..the elderly women r strict and they scold the young women as u said women who come with noisy kids and chips etc.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
You are correct. Mosques are there for prayer and worship. However, Mosques also used to and still act as places for the community members to meet and exchange ideas/news etc - As Aisha Taweela says.
It is important that adults control children in any house of worship..
Eco-savvy, I wholly agree with you.
exactly Aisha-Taweela.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
they come with drinks/chips drawing books.
They should know some ppl go to masjid to WORSHIP. Its better for women to pray at home then to come with unruly children and disturbed other devouts who are passionate about taraveeh
A very important issue is to walk to the mosque. I always go to my small mosjid here in my neighbourhood. Most masjids have a special area for ladies. So during Ramadan I walk to my little majsid, do my prayers there and see some of the women in my area that I only see during Ramadan. I often get invited to come to their house. So I not only do my prayers, but get to know the women in my area. And leaving the mosque we walk together to our homes. Ramadan is about family & sharing & this is one way of doing it.Aisha-Taweela
Dear Friends,
The pleasure is all mine. I do agree about the limited place at Al Mansoora Masjid and the kids being noisy, I would advice our sisters to leave thier children at home at the time of taraweeh prayers esp if they are under 7 years of age.
But I do also understand that sometime its not possible as there should be someone to take care of them at home, and Ramadan is the month where we can maximise the benefits of prayers and our dedication to Al Mighty Allah. And who would want to miss this opportunity to make the most of it that too to take care of children.
However i would advice parents to educate thier childern to be silent & observant at the time of prayers and encourage them to be a part of prayers. I know children will always be children but we can always try.
Jazak All Khair.

for females. And to much meow meow of the kids
IMI, nicely said.
Thx for ur info..u always come up with nice infos

Brothers & Sisters of Islam,
From my prespective, All Masjid's give the same reward for us being good muslims in peforming our prayers. Its not obligatory for females to perform prayers in a Masjid but for sure preferable since women too can enjoin us in iqamat for taraweeh prayers. For females i recommend the Al Meera (Al Mansoora) Opp Masjid, Mashallah the Imam has a wonderful voice, and the ambience is indeed very nice as the masjid is in full fragrance of Oud all the time.
I personally prefer trying all the Masjid's around Doha, when ever i am driving or around any masjid i prefer to offer my salat at this due time. I find all the masjid's very peaceful. But yes a few are of my favorite as i like being there.
But in the End Allah Knows Best and May the Almighty Allah Bless us in the Month of Ramadan, Forgive our Sins, Grant us his blessings of Love, Peace & Happiness and accept our Fasts and Worship. AMEEN
Some Masjids I recommend are :-
Omar Bin Khattab - Rayyan Road / Madinat Khalifa
Abu Baker Siddiq - Corniche Road
Sheikh Ali Mosque - Opp Souq Waqif
The Big Masjid - Opp Al Meera (Mansoora)
The Big Masjid - Opp Al Meera (Muntaza)
Al Wakra Grand Masjid - Al Wakra (Umm Said Road)
Jazak Allah Khair

you have to try all the masjids, I have been to Salwa, fariq omran, Muntazah, Hilal.
Awww elxxxv, back to square one.
dear Amreen_J and Muhammed12,
indeed which ever masjid one prays, we have to offer our best - have khusyoo', etc. so, it does not matter which ever masjid we go for teraweeh.
on the other hand, it is quite natural for us to have a few masjids where we "like" more than others for some reason or another - due to the facilities, ambience, imam, etc. for a person who understands arabic for e.g., the 'beautiful' way an imam recites the Quran (e.g. tarannum, melody, etc.) can help increase his/her concentration in the prayer.
in the end, offering our best quality prayer is important but we may find there are certain masjids where we feel more comfortable to do so.
i think this is a minor issue but being new in Qatar, i do appreciate any 'recommended' masjids that any of you might want to suggest.
of course in the end i might find different masjids where i'd feel more comfortable! looking fwd to 'trying' the different masjids here in Qatar!
I am not sure whether the daily prayers r lead by Sheikh Qardawi but the taraweeh Prayers r led by him in the Parliament Masjid i.e the masjid attached to the Qatar's Emiri Diwan near the corniche.
Which grand masjid?
FANAR has masjid, educational services and many more including a very big library for people who r interested to learn Islam.
Fanar is the only Masjid in Qatar where they give friday sermon in english and its mostly by Dr.Bilal Philips ( A revert).
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
Exactly, Muhammed12. My point exactly. I rest my case.
I doubt whether its right or wrong and that's y i did'nt comment on that.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
I agree that in a Pakistsni mosque, the language for the Friday khutbah would be in Urdu. And in a Chinese mosque the khutbah would be in Mandarin. So, what's the beef?
Muhammed12, just to reiterate, 'is there any mosque where the imam recites well....'
Muhammed12 - where is Sheikh Qaradawi's masjid located? And would you know if they do taraweeh at the Grand Mosque? I also didn't know that Fanar has a mosque, I thought it was just for lectures and meetings. And happy Ramadan in advance to you too, and all others.
Amreen_J...ur right 100% but come to the point. The person didnt ask for any Masjid where rich people come or a masjid where only people from specific country come...He just asked for a masjid that has female facility, so in that case he isn't wrong.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
Muhammed12, when I went to the Blue Mosque in Turkey, I joined all the other muslims for prayer. We all prayed in the same manner and we all prayed in the same language (Arabic). Regardless of any racial or cultural differences, we all unite to worship Allah, whether we pray at Masijd Al-Noor or The Parliament Masjid, or any other mosque there is in the world.
ur absoluetly right Amreen_J but neither its wrong to go to a particular masjid rite. Correct me if iam wrong.
and most of them go with their families here.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
It doesn't matter what kind of mosque you visit for your prayer; at the end of the day, it is your own sincerity and effort in performing your prayer that make it complete and pure. Comprend?
Muhammed12, It's not obligatory for women to go to a mosque.
Ur right, A Masjid is a masjid is a masjid. But northand south is looking for a masjid that has facilities for women.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
A mosque is a mosque is a mosque. End of.
Most of the Big Masjids have got facilities for Females.
There r many masjids..the list is endless.
from my side..
1.The Parliament Masjid..i dont know its exact name..Thats a very big Masjid and thats where our great Scholar Sheikh.Qardawi leads the prayer.
2.FANAR
3. A masjid near Al Muntazah Petrol Station..back in the old days..thats the one most of them prefer to go as the Imam had a very beautiful voice(mashallah) but now that Imam is not there.
Anyways that's it and happy Ramadhan northandsouth in advance.
Ramadan on its Way.......:)
