Anzac Day

By Happy Happy •
For all of those who've lost a life on that April 25th, or any other day, in this war or another, my respects.
I hope you've attended the Dawn Service this morning.

snowyowl, at least the Turks wrote a tribute, an imperishable inscription, and paid their respects to you. I had none of that in 56 (Tripartite Aggression) or in 1967 (June War).
Not much of a consolation though. Wars are ugly.
And wasn't too impressed with it. Flags weren't flown appropriately, flying the Turkish flag higher than both the Aust and NZ flag was offensive...even more offensive was the returned servicemen in the audience not allowed to partake (What exactly is ANZAC about?). The speaker thanked himself and not the dignitaries? Don't get me wrong, am thankful it was organised but the spirt was very much lost :(
