Perez, Wu win taekwondo gold; Nikpai's medal a first for Afghanistan

Beijing, China (Sports Network) - Guillermo Perez of Mexico and China's Wu Jingyu won taekwondo gold medals on Wednesday at the Olympics.

Another big story also broke out of the competition as Afghanistan won its first Olympic medal when Rohullah Nikpai defeated world champion Juan Antonio Ramos of Spain, to take the bronze in the men's under 58-kilogram division.

"After more than 30 years of war in Afghanistan, I think this medal is a very great message for peace and the future of Afghanistan," said Nikpai.

How wonderful to have something positive after so many years of being in turmoil..

Grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked, the good fortune to run into the ones I do,and the eyesight to tell the difference.

I'll take you anytime in Boxing, just for GP, with some 12 ounce gloves in the ring, for three rounds only. Human facial bones hurt like crazy, when you crack your wrist or bust your knuckles.

I might be a little bit slow and old, but I still have my boxing blood on me, plus I have no fear about no one or any thing, except God.

My congratulations to the Afghani Olympians in winning the gold medal.

Mr. PAUL

Maybe you need someone, willing to kick your loud British butt, for once in your life.

Maybe you will learn to defend yourself in learning Taekwondo.

I hear St. Patrick was an Englishman!"
