yes iam ready to sacrifice anything to have a dog, preferably a lab puppy. i had a dog back home, which i actually picked fr street and then came to know tat it was a lab mix.i have to admit tat i dont know anything abt dog training and the one i picked was already well behaved(might have run from his owner) Dindoo (i named him) was my bestie but was very carefull not to climb or jump over me or other members of the family and would not enter the house unless we call him in. last week my mum called to inform me tat he passed away. i wnt a puppy to take his place in my life(he lives in my heart for ever).
are there any dog trainers in doha? i would like to take my classes before having a puppy.
both these breeds shed hair like crazy; both need a LOT of exercise, not just a 15 minute walk, they need to run and play for at least 30-45 minutes twice a day - can you provide them with a safe area to have this type of active life style?
Labs are mouthy - meaning they like to take things in their mouths and mull them around, including your hands, your shoes, anything that's lying around the house - are you prepared to sacrifice some footwear and have slobbery hands?
Suggest you read up on both these breeds BEFORE you decide you want one. As a responsible owner YOU will need to learn how to train a dog properly (positive reinforcement) before you can begin to train the dog.
GSD and labs are the height of fashion this season as I am sure Scarlett knows. Wait until next season when they are passed and then you will find plenty wandering the streets. I agree with what Scarlett says, we get so many GSD and labs brought to the vets because their fashion accessories are growing up and they think they are sick because they are trashing the house and barking at family members. The truth is that they haven't been trained. Remember that it won't fit in your handbag for long.
Have you ever had a Labrador or a GSD before? If not then you might want to reconsider the breed because GSD's can be very hard headed..and Labs are perpetual puppies.
However, if you are familiar with these breeds, I suggest you go to the Qatar Animal Welfare society (QAWS) and check out the dogs/puppies they have there. There are many dogs that are mixtures of the breeds you are looking for.
Mixed breeds will actually have less genetic health problems than pure bred dogs because they won't have been over and inter bred, therefore reducing the likelihood of increasing the bad genetic traits of certain breeds.
