I live in Manhattan. I am having a hard time finding definite answers to what exactly I need to have done for them to have safe passage into Doha. Can anyone tell me the exact things that are needed from the vet here for my cats?
Thank you.
niki
As u live in Manhatten simply open the window and chuck the cats out. U will save a huge amount of time and money and u will find when u get to Qatar that there are loads of moggies here for u to take home. Have a lovely flight - I hope ur cats do too! Zipppppppppyyeeeeeee- splat!
just brought my cat from the UK. Lots of paperwork.
I first spoke to my vet, then DEFRA (UK government body to do with welfare of animals) who advised me what do to on the UK side - I would have thought there would be a similar equivalent in the US.
Used a Uk Export company for the UK side - again would have thought there will be a US equivalent.
Then used qatarpetrelocators (google it, it should come up). They are pricey, but do everything at the qatar end.
All my cat needed was a rabies jab - but must be 30 DAYS!! before travel, will assume the same for the US but I would check if they need other things (Uk usually needs less for animals bound for export, due to being an island nation and the absence of a lot of diseases, so definitely would check what US needs). Qatarpets will tell you what you need, just give them a call, if you need number let me know and I will dig it out.
sorry for mis spelling, quite tired and could not be bothered to spellcheck. Hope all goes well. If you have any other questions let me know.
Hi again. Go onto Doha Vets (I'm pretty sure it's dohavets.com) website and look for the info and/or give them a call directly. They do the paperwork for import/export of pets and I've found them very helpful. They will know the up-to-date rules. And you do want to be sure, of course.
