HI to all

I am in a middle of taking a decision in my CAREER and i thought y not share wid all QL folks.

Here is the situation
I worked in a IT related project for 6 years and unfortunately now the PRoject is completed and as u know that is in this RECESSION TIME.

NOW based on my performance, my COMPANY has given me an oppurtunity to work in other devision and that is in SALES.

MY question is that should i quit my field now and join sales and start from beginning or should i wait for sometime and try my LUCK in the same field?

By the way my company also have one IT project, which will be completing in JANUARY and i can also work in that but this SALES job is permanent.

What should i DO NOW.... :S

Please do let me know your valuable advise and guide my in this confusing MATTER.

Most of the CEOs come from sales background.

Sales is challenging field for sure. But, if u have to sell something u r expert at, then go ahead...

in times of recession person has to do multitasking and be flexible to survive....I have been into sales since begining of my career, i love my job....and its intersting work..rather doing same boring routine daily....

I dont think u have to fool people in sales. U have to be updated and shud have through knowledge of what u r dealing in....then no need to fool people...salespeople fool clients, if they dont have necessary knowledge..

dEV,

Some people have so much respect for their superiors, they have none left for themselves..!!

ask for NOC and continue your profession as an IT. you will benefit more. For keeps, IT has a better salary package than in sales.

My friend is working as an IT and was offered with 18,000qr.

You are taking a risk either way but if you jump into sales, your prior experience goes out of the window. Sales isn't for everyone anyway, depends if you can handle it. I am in sales throughout my career and it's kind of a rollercoaster ride. Somedays you feel on top of the world, somedays you are down in the dumps.

My opinion on this is a bit different…

I have discovered from life, we do not accept change until the pain of remaining same becomes greater than the pain of changing.

The only person welcomes change in this society is a baby in wet diapers.

Change is sometimes, frightening… change is sometimes threatening…

But change for the betterment of life is an opportunity.

U seems to be living in a comfort zone, come out of it…

Being a marketer, I do not jump to conclusions very easily, so I suggest first u should see what you are going to sell, what’s your knowledge about the product.

Salesmanship is demanding but rewarding as well…

Looking at your CAN DO attitude, I have no doubts that you can excel in that…

Remove the pessimism, and grab the opportunity…

Good Luck…

Some people are builders other are sellers.

I rather stay IT, way too much pressure in sales, they could quickly terminate you, If you don't cut the percent of sales per month. It is all about profit, noting else....

Sales is a difficult job. You must have the nerve to fool people. Basically you must be able to sell s++t. Only then, you are a 'good' salesman.

Working in and completing a project is satisfying and you'll be content to a degree. The choice is yours.
