Hi my name is Paul i am 19 years old and i live in Lebanon. I go to Sagesse University in a faculty of Business Administration & Finance (2nd year). I work with my parents, actually we own an outlet.
We're planning to move to Qatar, but we're facing difficulties in some issues, like working in Qatar. How can we launch an outlet there? how the system works? With a Qatari partner or?
Plz advise me for the suitable market place, and other things related to the subject. THx anyways.

Hi there,
looking for a shop in a mall in Doha is like lookingf or a needle in a haystack. The normal price for a shop is about QR 120,-- per square metre and if you get it in places like the City Centre or Vilaggio you will problably get whati called a shell. This means that you will have the floor space, eletric and (water connections) if necessary but all other work you will have to do i.e. fitting out glass windows and the interior work of course.
If you want a space in any mall you should at least fax them and keep on sending reminders until you get an answer. However, my information is that there are no shops available at present as I have been looking for one myself.
Check out what you exactly need with the Chamber of Commerce in Doha they can advise you the best way to go about setting up you business but in any case you will need a sponsor.
regards
There is only one city in Qatar and that is Doha. I'm not sure here if AlWakra & AlKhor are considered cities??? Maybe Doha is the best amongst if so.
Mall/Souk?
Should i say its more on personal choice. You know in a business, especially in retails, alot of things you need to consider. Competitors, Location, Products, Values/Branded/Signature, & others. If you choose in the Malls, expect a high rent of shops which means you must sell the products in high value to meet your monthly expenses + income of coarse. And if you think the items you are selling worth that much, then go for it! otherwise find a good location at the souk.
Shops rent varies, depending on the location just like i said.
Bottom line is, I cannot tell you my opinion on this.
I think it's sexy for a man that uses his imagination to creative something beautiful for women to wear. Others might find it kinky and perverted but it's not.
Remember that there are more women than men in every country's population. CORRECT ME if I'm wrong, but statistics showed that there is a ratio of 7:1 (women:man)
Back in my country, the leading companies promoting and selling women undergarments are MEN.
So, Mr. Paul...try to log on to Qatar government website for some information. I know some of the QLers would read this topic and offer some more info. I can't tell you anything as I'm no businessperson myself but dream of having one sometime soon...
So GOOD LUCK!!!!
My dad has 40 years experience. I have 3 years experience.
Thx a lot for ur help, but do u know which city is the best for investing ?
is it better to launch an outlet in a shopping mall or souk ?
what about the rent prices ?
You are already into business for 40 yrs?
I am sure you know how it goes in the beginning? expect a loss or at least no income w/in the first 6 months to a year. Or better yet come and visit Qatar and study the market to have a good idea of which is which and what is in?
Start investing a small amount, dont put all your money in one shot just in case of a loss, then you got something to cover.
Dont stick into one business, have options, explore your mind.
I am not an experience businesswoman, but i am looking into it in the future;)
Good evening to ALL!
Mr. Prempakarash, are you sure w/ your infos?
51/49 if he is your business partner. But if he is only your sponsor and you manage the business alone, you just need to pay him annually on mutual agreement. But you also need to pay some amount annually to the Govt.(trade & Industry?)

even you spend 100% investment your Qatar partner will take 51% with out single riyal spend , better see Europe at least you will get green card , here in Qatar even if you stay your life time you will not get anything except domination
you have to have a Qatari sponsor. You should go around looking for a qatari. Then you have to have him sighn a contract or something. He also gets a share of the propfits. Just some advice here, if you want a good buisness consider investing in the following sectors:
-School: School costs here are very high. So they make alot of profit.
-Nurserys: Nurserys for little kids is alkso a good idea.
-Restaurants/Cafes: Here people like high quality things. So if you open a restaurant, make it very nice with waiters etc. Then you can sell the things for a very high price.
Hope you prosper in ure buisness.
