Ciao Ragazzi, I'd like to know if it's possible for me to come and live in Qatar without a current job offer.I am wine somellier, and a import export manager plus a race car driver, do you think that might help to get employed?I lived in the USA for the last 5 years dealing with fashion on two Italian companies behalf, I'd like to come over and work as a wine somellier or to open eventually my own business.Any advice to recommend?I am fully Italian by the way.I hope to receive some good tips, thanks everyone for reading and for eventually sharing anything that might help me in my research for answers.

Ciao a tutti

easynickman I hope the above posts have helped you realise that Qatar is not the place for you to pursue your sommeliers idea. However I am curious to know why Qatar? What on earth made you think of coming here? Did you see a poster publicising the area somewhere, or a film made in Qatar, or read a book with a story line featuring Qatar?

Most people have never even heard of the place.

because they have pointed out that this is a Muslim country. Alcohol is extremely closely controlled by the government so there are no wine shops and even the few 5 star restaurants that serve wine do not employ someliers. Qatar simply is not that sophisticated when it comes to food and beverage services. And seeking employment as a race car driver is pointless unless you are Michael Schumacher.

If you are asking for advice, I would suggest you not be so rude when you don't like the advice that is given.

ciao!

I'm afraid that Qatar is not the place for entrepreneurs. It is for specific professions that meet a particular employer's need for a stated amount of time. (My colleagues get a little impatient with people who haven't done their homework before posting, I'm afraid.)
