Just talking in general :) , the tea boy that you know can be more useful than a manger that you don't know. It is all about how far can this guy take you.

Absolutely correct. The right people aren't necessarily overtly rich and visibly powerful.

Tea boys can also have a large wasta effect - so its not linked to poerful people or positions. It has a lot to do with personal relationships of the people etc. and who they trust. True everything above, a good family name can get you a lot of wasta aswell just thought i would bring the other side to view.

It means a powerful person in a high position somewhere in a company or place. It can be also someone who knows this this person and can help you to get connected to him so he would be your 'wasta' or 'connection' to that person. He is the one who can get you a job even without being qualified because he knows that person there ...
