Volunteer English Teaching in Doha
Hello, all. Sorry for posting this in the Opportunities section. Not sure if this is the best place, so let me know if it is not.
I will be working a temporary assignment in Qatar for my employer. I wanted to teach English as a volunteer, not professionally. I will not have time for both. I have tried a brief preliminary search, and I cannot find much stateside on the net. I tried contacting ROTA a few times, and of course they never got back to me. They have not fixed the webpage I told them was messed up either, so the message got to them loud and clear. Do any of you have suggestions?
I have a certificate from Georgetown University in TEFL. I have done such things in the past, so I am not totally new to this thing. Either way, let me know.
two spaces after the full stops please
consider using word grammar checking...
I guess I will not be too hard on you, Fazeel, since you clearly have a bone to pick with me. I know you were taught at your school, which must be infinitely better than Georgetown, that English teachers are infallible. They never rush, make mistakes, or have other jobs with lots of responsibilities and limited downtime to find websites like this. I am sorry I have messed it in your eyes. What ever will I do with myself?
I was asking for opportunities to teach English, not lecture from a pulpit. Since you answered the original question, and clearly know a lot about the TEFL community, I thank you.
So, do people who actually know of organizations in this arena have anything to say, or is my only hope omnipotent Fazeel?
Well, do you want me to correct punctuation? Next time I am in a rush, I will be sure to slow down and put on my English teacher hat. I forgot they do not make mistakes. This is a web forum, not an instructional workbook, no?
It is not my first experience in this part of the world, unless a year in Egypt is too far away. I was trying to research ahead of time. In any event, thanks for the tip.
sorry, that sounds grammatically wrong
If you are housed in an apartment block, you probably have a built in market in the maintenance/security people.
I get the impression this is the first experience you have in this part of the world - if so, shua shua - slowly slowly
