Hi Mandi. I'm new here and was wondering about working on Qatar as well. If you can send me a PM here or on Facebook, will appreciate it. Thank you.

Translator, these smaller schools don't interview on site. I know, I'd be very cautious.

So you accepted an offer without visiting the school?

Hadn't heard of it but that's not surprising because it seems to be very small, situated in a private villa (home.) My impression is that it is Indian-owned with teachers primarily from the Philippines? Well, make sure you get a good salary, furnished housing that is not shared (no roommates) and some sort of transportation offered, all on top of your salary. Certainly they must pay your airfare and visa processing costs. Be sure they will process your residency permit in a speedy way. You will find Doha very expensive (and I've lived in NYC!) And somewhat constricting if you are a single female. But there are opportunities to meet others, especially women western teachers, at various venues. Church, Qatar Professional Women, QAWS, etc. Have they told you you must submit a police clearance and your academic credentials for attesting at the Qatar Embassy in Washington? There are certain things you must not leave home without!

Translator, Thanks for the welcoming. I have not had an opportunity to talk with teachers in the school yet. In fact my work permit and VISA is currently being processed. So I have just been researching all I can and asking people about Doha, Qatar.

VERY school dependent. From absolutely unspeakably awful to great.

For teaching, better ask other teachers in the school which offered you, as students caliber and school management makes the difference. For living in Qatar, this the place to ask. We welcome you to our community.
