Recession and working in Qatar

Everyone around me seem to be very pessimistic about job prospects in 2009 in Qatar. Specially in oil & gas industries. Everyone expecting layoffs and nobody would dare to try to find better job, scared enough for the chair they're sitting in.
How do you think, how is job market in Qatar is doing? Is it really all that bad in oil and gas and everywhere else? No chances for anything till the end of the recession?

Only qualified caliber should be able to find great jobs in a recession as those companies that need to get out of a recession need to recruit the best and be creative
