Is Qtel a good company to work at?

Hi guys!

I'm Karl from the Philippines. I was recently contacted by Qtel for a possible job opportunity with them. The first three interviews were done over the phone, now for the final interview they're asking me to fly to Doha for a face-to-face panel interview, all expenses paid.

My question really is, is this normal? I mean, I'm not even hired yet but the company is already spending money on me.

Please let me now your thoughts on this. Every input will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Yes Karl, it is normal.

Most of the bigger companies are doing it in this way, too.

Nothing strange about that.

Besides, if they asked you to come here, they must be really interested in you.

Good luck and let us know how did it go!

If you're looking for a problem, you're probably gonna find one.

In terms of benefits, Qtel is at par with the big oil companies here. Before I was hired, I also underwent the same face to face interview and anyway Qtel is a very rich company so it would'nt mean that much for them to spend a few thousand riyals for your airfare and a 5-star hotel accomodation here.

the processing of hiring here in qatar is just slow. when qtel brought you to doha for interview, they should be considering you already and may have offered you some package or contract. did you reach this stage? if not maybe you are not that good in face-to-face interview this did not happen.

If Q-Tel are flying you out it means they want you to work for them.

Make sure your contract is adequate. Otherwise it's like most employers here. Not great but could be a lot worse.
