Moving to Qatar
Hi everyone,
I have just secured a job with Qatar Airways and will be moving to Doha in 3-4 months time. I am trying to find out information for my girlfriend. We understand that I cannot sponsor her into the country until we are married but that won't be possible for a while. In the mean time I guess her only way in is to seek work which comes with sponsorship. If anyone has any other ideas can you throw them in please.
I have been trying hard to find a job for her but with no luck yet. She is currently Cabin Crew in the UK but cannot go for a job as crew with Qatar Airways as we are not allowed to mix.
With a BA Hons degree in International travel and tourism management, can anyone suggest a recruitment agency or similar? Hotel reception or Airport work would be perfect.
Many thanks in advance
Thanks everyone. I certainly don't want to risk my position so I'll take everything you've said into account. It does sound a tad prison like, but I hope the job makes up for it.
Not sure what to do.
It sure does frenchieman - a lot of the flight crews are housed in and around Mansoura and Najma - there is always security at the doors/parking garages.
Sounds like prison :-(
Be aware if you are living in QA accomodation you are seriously risking your job if it is discovered she is with you. From a third party, I understand QA does random checks (even entering accomodation) of their employees's housing but I believe this is for the lower grades and not management level. Someone else can speak to that.
Also, if you are housed in an all QA facility you will be under the watchful and sometimes vindictive or jealous eyes of others (including security guards in the former). Not a risk to be taken lightly.
Technically it is illegal for unmarried people to live together. The police don't go around searching, but it could potentially be a problem if you have non-Western conservative neighbours. Just something to keep in mind.
hey guys,
yes, European (British). So when coming to Doha for the first time can she just stay with me and then go job hunting? she will need to find a job that has sponsorship with it. Will there not be questions asked about coming as a visitor on her own for 30 days?
cheers
If she is an European then you dont have to worry about anything. She can get on arrival visa as a tourist for 30 days which can further be extended for 30 more days.
After completing 2 months it requires one exit. Normally people go to Dubai. If you use Flydubai flight it is gonna cost you 500 to 600 QR up and down.
Even there are many possibilities of getting a job within these two months itself.
While coming just be careful not to reveal the immigration people that you both know each other.
Good luck.
If she is British, she can come in on a renewable tourist visa and find an apartment with a roomate while she looks for work.
