I worked in a big company before. It's one of top three in the industry. Most of my workmates are loyal, having worked (grown) with the company for 20, 25, 30 ... years.
Several years before, the company was acquired by another top industrial player. My coworkers' felt shocked as the company they had spent most of their careers seemed lost. The culture was changed, and the new company did not appreciate their loyalty too much.
I was not too much affected, fortunately, as I was just a fresh graduate then. But I learnt a lesson: whatever, wherever and whenever you work, learn as much skills and experiences which are transferable and visible. Always have a mind-set to make your portfolio (CV) a unique and handsome one. This is the only reliable thing. This is what companies appreciate and value most.
When you get the task done exceptionlly well far exceeding the maximum expectations of the company, the company realizes that you have added more value to the company's worth and in turn you feel good about that. After few such incidents company feels that you are an integral part of the company and you feel that you are where you are belong to. end of the day both feel each other as a part of the well knit family and both love each other right up to the end.
