Job Hunting

In just two weeks,, i've experienced a lot of things that i only read in novels before! Finding a job isn't that easy cause 1. you have to find out whether the job/company actually exist or merely a fraud 2. find the right karwa driver to deliver you to the right destination 3. pass interviews that you thought you made right (yet you didn't... Whew and a lot more! In fairness, there are also many helpful people who are very generous and would go out of their way to help. For instance,on my first day here, there was this guy we came across to and asked for direction. He got the number and called it himself, after which he led us the way to the building and to the elevators and right in front of the door.hehe. Thank you sir...but now, I can manage a little and go around on my own. Hopefully, id find the right job soon too..

If you could add the details of your state and country then I will be able to have specifics.

I couldn't tell you how much she would be payed it depends where she works and on her employer. The younger you are generally the less you get paid to get jobs for 15 year olds. I live in Australia and majority of under 18's get paid between $5-$15 Australian dollars.

Hope this helped,

Chloe =]

Edit: I found New Zealand's minimum employment age.

There is no minimum age for work in NZ although children under the age of 16 can not be employed during school hours.

The laws of young employees come under most health and safety acts and child labour laws.

Judging from this I think you should do a little H&S research to see if anything applies to your sister.

Many employers refuse to employ anyone under the age of 14 and since she is 14 she should be fine.

cheekylady: The job hunt here has been interesting for me. I'm still looking (it's been over a month) and I expect that things will slow down now with the upcoming preparations for Ramadan. That said, I don't know that it is any more difficult for me as a woman than it would be for a man. And the business about wanting to give me a job but also wanting to kiss me is no different than I have experienced back home. Just something ladies have to deal with.

helen, see... there're some nice pple who are willing to help! ;o) good luck girl!

Khawaga - are you serious??? that's baaaaaad!

Is it harder to get work visas for women?

And Rehmat- you are in the wrong section. Please kindly place your ads in Classifieds

venky: you said it! So far, the best I have heard is "you can have this job but we can't get you a visa because you are a woman. We might be able to get you a visa in the future, but I'm not sure I want to because I want to kiss you and that is bad from a business ethics stand point."

I completely agree with you, helen! It is a weirdest experience of all.... I went for two interviews, and didn't even know what positions I was being interviewed for and one of the jobs did not really exist! The person who called me up could barely speak English, forgot to introduce him/herself or mention which company they're calling from or who was to interview me! 'Come for interview at 1pm tomorrow' isn't quite enough information ha ha ha But it's all part of the experience ;o)
