Job Application Process

Hello all.
I am looking for some advice regarding the job application process in Doha.
I am a recent graduate holding a Master's degree in Construction Management and a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from Texas A&M University in the United States. However, my professional experience is limited to a couple of internships.
I am looking for a job as a Graduate Architect or Site Architect/Engineer with a design & engineering consultant or contractor. Therefore, I started contacting companies to inquire about their application process, and almost all of the companies instructed me to either email or fax my CV. Nonetheless, it has been approximately 2-3 weeks since I sent my CV and I haven't heard from any company yet.
Do you guys think this situation is normal?
Also, is it wiser to follow-up by telephone or by showing up in-person?
Thanks,
aggie2008.
You need to make sure your CV stands out from other CVs, maybe you need to elaborate more on your academic achievements, internshisps and any extra collecular activities.
You may follow up with a phone call but do not be too pushing
Be patient .. these things take time
A good start is to seek a trainee job with one of the companies that would give you exposure to the work environment
Good luck
