INTERNSHIP CONTACTS
We are an International Internship Organization looking for possibilities of extending our services to Qatar and seeking companies/Institutions and contacts that are interested in accepting Interns for up to 12 weeks.
Please we would like if you could give us some info on the Qatar internship market. What does the working population look like? What industries are important in Qatar? Are internships a common phenomenon in Qatar? What’s the position of interns?
Are internship available in all fields (marketing, Financial, ICT, etc) in Qatar or is it restricted to specific fields (like hospitality, non academic simple work experience, etc)? Is it also possible to arrange academic graduation internships? Are internships paid or unpaid possible?
How does one enter in to Qatar and do an internship legally if one is a citizen of the EU, America, etc? Is Visa necessary for EU citizens? Does then applicant apply on arrival or should he do it in his home country? Is the process complex and time consuming?
Hope to hear back from Interested Parties, and also your Opinions will be appreciated on this forum. You can also write me on my email programcontact2012/at/yahoo.com .
Thanks
Again, the problem is with legalities. I personally don't know of too many employers who will be willing to provide Residency Permits for non-salaried workers. The employer is completely responsible for those under their sponsorship.

Thanks all for your contribution. Mandi, I dont agree that it will be Illegal in Qatar since there will be a contract drawn where the Interns have agreed on a specific pay scale or unpaid Interns, they have understood that their basis is to gain relevant work experience but in a different environment.
Also we will also welcome applications and be able to help students and workers from Qatar who will like to Intern in other countries.(Europe and USA)
What would be your advise for us? Do you think or know of some Institutions and companies that will be interested in this project to accept Interns.
ICT Qatar*
ICT and AIESEC have internship programs
I suspect that internships would actually be illegal in Qatar. By law you have to pay people who work here (thank God).

Interns are great extra work force that can free up time of permanent staff members. Interns can serve as a bridge to new markets-due to his/hers language skills and knowledge of other markets and business customs. They can be perfect extra hands for entry level tasks and projects which you would normally hire expensive full time staff for. There are no fees or charges for the use our service. You don’t have to pay the intern, as the primary goal of an intern is gaining relevant work experience as a career investment in a different environment. That said you could compensate interns with stipends for travel, expenses, meals, housing or offer a performance based bonus however..
This is not common in Qatar. Expatriates come here to work, not to learn.
