Hi all

This is my first post here and im looking for some sound advice,

First of all im a self employed electrician living in the south of Ireland, There is work here but it is getting harder and harder to collect my money ( at this moment and time im out about €12k)
Ive read as many post as i could on this forum about living, cost, work etc and it seems some people think the construction is booming and some think its at a stand still.

All im looking for is a change for a few years, better life style some good weather and gain more experience in my field

I love the sun (so does my wife lol)
Im looking for a job as a Electrical supervisor/ foreman
Where not big drinkers
i love motorsports espically motorbike racing, i do it here at home

is it better to wait for an offer before we go or is it better just to book a flight go there and try and meet these people in person, what are the chances of getting a job this way

Thanks a mil for any advice in advance and hopefuly i will see ye out there in the near future as im itching to get out of this place for a while

Unless you freelance, you will not survive with the wages of Electricians.

Good luck!

Yes, I agree with baldrick. Somehow it seems one is more attractive from a distance when it comes to hiring here. When you are actually in Qatar you tend to be treated as a captive audience.

Irish, to be honest you're going to struggle against the Asian market as they will work for a lot less than you could ever survive on.

There's also cutbacks here right now meaning companies will try to hire for as little as possible.

Start out trying from home first. Take a look at www.bayt.com www.monstergulf.com etc and see what they are offering. You may be disappointed at the salary range.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you do get out here give me a shout.

Did you Google it first?
