Do Never Join XXXXXXX Construction Company..

abrakadabra
By abrakadabra

Dear all,

I am warning to all of you never to join XXXXXX Company,Doha,Qatar. This company has very cheap kind of Indian Managers who are having mentalitiy lower than even an unskilled labourer.I joined this company and now suffered a lot.I have been restricted from joining the driving classes.Company has writtten 5 days a week in offer letter as well as employement contract but calls even on fridays and saturdays. My suggestion is to never work under an Indian manager.I have been given threat of termination when i joined driving schools. My manager said that principally,i can not join the school(even for one day only for theory classes!) during company hours. When these kind od managers calls on weekends...then where all the principles goes??

The mods have already removed the names.

It's an open forum and they don't want QL in any trouble.

If you want the name, PM abrakadabra!

how can I make my boss realize this?

His whole life revolves around work.

Maybe next year I should start looking for another job coz if I work more with him I would think of 14 hours of work as normal and would expect all my subordinates to work 14 hours.

There have been days when I have worked for upto 18 hours in a day. My manager sometimes works even more than that. He calls hard and long work discipline. Initially I also shared his view but now I have realized that eight hours work is maximum and the purpose of one's life should not be work rather it should be to enjoy life. Money cannot buy happiness. Happiness comes  from within you.

Names are not normally quoted on the forum.

So don't be lazy, get off your butt and send a PM

In summer months it is forbidden for people to work outside during the hottest hours of the day. Inspections are carried out to ensure this is being followed, but some companies still get away with ignoring this rule.

By anonymous• 2 Apr 2008 17:29

That will eat all profits of the poor contractor :)

skdkak....12 hrs in this weather is a bit too much

Its not like they have a choice not to work the overtime, after the 12 hrs!

I propose outdoor work should be reduced to 6hrs and no more.

I know I propose in vain.

Alexa...they work right through the day...

...from 6am to 6pm is normal work hrs and from 6pm to 9-10pm

is overtime @QR1 per hour.  The Driving classes close officiall at 8pm and

unofficially at 7pm.

I salute the guy's willingness under such physical & emotional stress to learn

something....

Living_in_Qatar....The amount promised them to is gross-salary without mentioning that from QR 600, Qr300 will be deducted as Food expense.

Accomodation will be a bed and a wornout mattress, buy a new blanket

(Qr 150) during winter. Plus the 1st 2 months here he will not have any

income as they hold usually 1-3 months salary.

Some dont get paid till they get deported!

I have yet to meet a construction labourerwho feels satisified about his

job and income......I am not even talking about being happy.

All Construction contracting companies in the Gulf work 12hrs, and its common

for many to work 16hrs a day for 6 days and on the 7th day  (Friday) they work 6am to 11am till prayer time in the noon (ie 5hrs).

This is shown in the Malayalam film "Arabikatha". If one considers the no of

malayalies here and the amount of Malayalam films produced till date none of the film touches the lifestyle of labourers in the Gulf.

The management could be from any country but if its a Contracting company involved

in construction the 12hours work  is seen as standard.
