Qatar prepares for ‘coldest nights of the year’ as Al Shola star appears
Wednesday night marked the first night of the Shola star, the third of the winter stars, and the last star of the Al Mraba’aniya season, signalling colder weather than ever.
The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) said that during this time, the weather is likely to be at its coldest, with much higher chances of fog formation. The star’s ascent is predicted to last for 13 days in all.
People of the Arabian Peninsula so named the star due to its resemblance to a scorpion’s tail.
