Qatar to officially host FIFA Arab Cup in December 2025
The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) officially announced the dates for the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, which will be held in the country for the second time in a row, on Wednesday.
The tournament, which will pit the best Arab teams in the region together for a lively contest at different FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 stadiums, will begin on December 1, 2025, and conclude on December 18, 2025.
The tournament will be a part of a series of major sporting events which the country will host this year.
The FIFA Council, during its 74th Congress in Bangkok, Thailand, in May 2024, had approved Qatar’s request to host the next three editions of the Arab Cup in 2025, 2029, and 2033.
The competition, which made its return in 2021 after several years of absence, treated fans in Qatar to some brilliant football games. The Algerian national team ran out as deserved winners and they will be keen to defend their title in Doha later this year.
The 2025 tournament will be the 11th edition of the FIFA Arab Cup.
The Qatar Football Association had expressed its interest in hosting the event under the umbrella of FIFA and the Arab Federation out of the Arab region’s need for such tournaments, in addition to the availability of success factors and integrated infrastructure to host tournaments in Qatar.
FIFA had also announced Qatar will host five editions of the FIFA U-17 World Cup — from 2025 to 2029 — with the participation of 48 teams for the first time in history.
