#WeAreQatar and we show our support to HH The Emir in different ways, say residents
The real strength of a nation is measured by how it stands together in a crisis. And Qatar’s residents and expatriates alike have been giving the world a masterclass on how it's done.
Over the last few days, thousands of people around the country and the world have shown their support to Qatar and HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani in unique ways.
The Peninsula reported that while some people showed their solidarity by wearing T-shirts having pictures and messages of HH The Emir, others were pasting pictures and messages on vehicles and outside shops.
Pictures are also being virally shared on social media sites like WhatsApp and Facebook, both by individuals and groups.
Many apparel shops have designed T-shirts which carry the face of HH The Emir and the phrase ‘Glorious Tamim,’ and are distributing it free to people in all areas.
Qatar Living stood on the forefront of drumming up support for HH The Emir as well as Qatar’s citizens by starting the #WeAreQatar hashtag campaign, which has been trending on Twitter and Facebook for several days now.
The man behind HH The Emir’s widely circulated sketch
The Peninsula went behind the scenes to find the true artist behind HH The Emir’s image, which has been spreading virally through social media.
The image, which shows HH The Emir with ‘Glorious Tamim’ written beneath it in Arabic calligraphy style, has gone viral.
The stunning image was created by Qatari artist Ahmed bin Majed Almaadheed.
The famous artist, who also created the mascots of the 2011 AFC Asian Cup in Doha, has offered high quality prints to anyone who requires it. He can be contacted at [email protected]
Meanwhile, at least one car company — British Car Care — in Al Wakrah, is offering this image as car stickers for free (with the artist’s permission). They can be reached on their Twitter handle @q_bcc .
The design went viral after several celebrities, including famous TV anchor and brand ambassador of Qatar Charity Mohamed Saadoun Al Kuwari (seen here), endorsed the image.
