Unexpected power outage which hit Doha rectified
An unexpected power outage hit parts of Doha on Wednesday, affecting businesses and normal life, reported Qatar Tribune.
Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) in a tweet said power supply to all affected areas has been restored.
A manager at Curry Leaves restaurant in Bin Mahmoud area said the power failure badly affected the business. "Power went off around 1pm during the busy lunch hour. We struggled to convince our customers about the situation. Many left the shop skipping their meals. It was a hard day for the employees working in the kitchen in the hot and humid weather," Imthias, manager of Curry leaves, said.
Another restaurant owner in Bin Mahmoud area said he has lost around QR4,000 due to the power outage.
He said Kahramaa officials assured him that power would be restored in a couple of hours but there was no power until 7 pm.
"I was told that Kahramaa officials had been working hard to restore the power line in the nearby substation. Weather is also unfavourable and it’s almost impossible to work without electricity," he said.
Many areas of Doha including Al Muntazah, Al Aziziyah, Bin Mahmoud, Al Kharaitiyat, Muaither and Ain Khalid were affected by the power outage.
