Here are some statistics on different facets of Qatar's public sector according to latest data released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
Road Accidents
Qatar saw 48 major road accidents last month. There were 572 traffic accidents, 13 of which led to deaths. Serious accidents stood at 48, and 511 were considered “not serious”.
New Vehicles / Licenses
There were 8,123 new vehicles on the road that were registered at the Traffic Department totalled 8,123, including 5,250 private vehicles and 188 private motorcycles.
7,433 new driver’s licences issued, 438 to Qataris and 6,995 to non-Qataris.
Divorce Rates
The Qatar Monthly Statistics for February recorded a high 99 divorces among Qataris and non-Qataris, against 234 marriages.
Sixty-three husbands were Qatari and 36 non-Qatari while 57 wives were Qatari and 42 non-Qatari who parted ways.
Births and Deaths
A total of 193 people died in Qatar last month, including 50 Qataris, against 1,603 births. Of the 1, 603 births, 810 were males. The total births among Qataris accounted for 450, of whom 231 were females.
Population
The population touched 2.1 million, of whom males constituted almost 1.5 million. Those in the 15-64 age group were estimated at 1.7 million of the population.
Trade / Business
On foreign trade, the data indicates that Japan was one of the major export destinations.
Japan was ranked first with exports worth over QR12.662bn, followed by South Korea with QR10.447bn, and India with QR5.391bn.
Maximum imports were from the US with over QR917.307m, followed by China with QR89.763m and the UAE with QR649.745m.
The Consumer Price Index attained 116.5 points.
Real estate transactions totalled 748 and were worth over QR2.8bn.
Water and Electricity
As much as 1.865m kW electricity was generated and water production exceeded 29.430m cubic meters.
Airport
A total of 2,650,635 passengers used Doha International Airport, with 1,018,610 arrivals, 965,565 departures and 666,460 transits.
