Sponsorship: Good news for expats in offing
The enactment of Qatar’s much-awaited new sponsorship law will take time, but will not be delayed for long.
Rumours that the new law ‘will get delayed for years’ is not true, a senior official of the Ministry of Interior has said.
"The authorities concerned are busy getting their acts together to finalise the proposals. It demands lot of discussions, review and integration of all aspects. The entire process is fast progressing, but it has to go through various channels before the approval. But there will not be any ‘undue delay’ before the announcement," said Brigadier Nasser Mohammed Al Sayed, Director, Research and Follow-up Department at the ministry.
He was speaking on the sidelines of the first consultative meeting on ‘Combating human trafficking in Qatar’.
Brigadier Al Sayed reiterated that the new sponsorship law will definitely bring ‘good news’ to the expatriates and said: “Expats are our partners in the development of our country and their prospects are bright.”
All government entities are trying their level best to solve the problems of the country’s expat communities.
