Speed-limit to be restored to 100 kmph on Doha Expressway
The maximum speed on the February 22nd Street is set to be reverted to 100km/h from the current 80km/h within a few days, local Arabic daily Arrayah said on Sunday quoting the Traffic Department.
The speed limit was reduced on an experimental basis to see if accidents could be curtailed.
However, the Advisory Council recently asked the Traffic Department to restore the speed limit to 100km/h as the road is considered one of the expressways of Doha.
i am using it everyday, in morning it is handicapped road 40-50 KPH
and at the end of day like 4:000 - 5:00 pm, it is completely stopped, i am going from Al-Dohiel R/A to the bridge taking e to sport R/A for 30 min over a speed of 0 KPH to 20 or 30 KPH....handicapped road :(
Wow, yeah. That's how it SHOULD be. But that's not how it IS.
expressway or ring road should not have any stops any time any where, should not have signals, should not have entrance to cut the road to the existing movers, u-turns should be made with a concept of bridges,,,expressway or ring road should not stops
ryanmdsouza. I bought that device from ebay........http://www.ebay.com/itm/UNIVERSAL-BRAKE-MODULATOR-WITH-10-PATTERNS-MAGIC-STROBES-BRAKE-LIGHT-FLASHER-/191052795808?hash=item2c7ba24fa0&vxp=mtr.
pattern 1-4 are for normal bulbs, and from 4 up suitavle for led , led clusters etc.
This isn't true, shalumitz. When the limit was 100 I needed 25 minutes from Abu Hamour to Land Mark, now, with 80, it takes 15 minutes. Traffic is flowing much smoother.
In the USA, surely a car-crazy country with a long history, the interstate (Freeway/Highway) limit is 70 mph (112 km/h) while other 4 lane highways are limited to 65 mph (104 km/h). The "Expressway" is a 3 lane road with some 2 lane stretches. Count for yourself which speed-limit would be reasonable.
The entrances and the exits are not suitable for high speed traffic. The whole "Expressway" is a joke.
Thank God. 80 Km/speed makes traffic jam more
it is a "Depressed way" more than "Express"
but anyhow it needs to be 120, i think so
Dascalu did you get that device in doha or from Ebay ?
when I go by the speed limit on the road and an A@#Hole is flashing behind me and tailgating me , I just hit the brakes , just to light up the brake light ( I have an electronic device that flashes verry bright and rapid the brake light) . result? the idiot behind me brakes and keep its distance.
maybe it is time for this road to be renamed as it doesn't serve its purpose as expressway. 3-lanes road only and they called it expressway? and the c-ring road now is becoming 4-lanes, what will the categorization for that? super-expressway? :) ....asghal engineers maybe drunk when they suggest it. :P
No, we need it to be 80 km. I am comfortable now. If 100, i may receive many flashes at back.
Regardless what speed limit is implemented around qatar roads..accidents will never reduced as long as bad drivers are out there.
Even when it was 80, I still saw a lot of Drivers doing over 100. I don't think the cameras were ever adjusted to capture drivers going over 80.
When you give way to others they wish you well .......... ..............
Lets be soft and accommodate our fellow citizens ......... .................
I can't, brit. I witness this every day.
Wild Turkey: You take that back. Ashghal probably paid millions to external consultants for this design.
An "Expressway" should not have the entrance and the exit at the same position. The cars entering the "Expressway" are accelerating, the cars leaving the "Expressway" are slowing down. It's bound to be a problem. It's NOT how to build "Expressways"! It's against all logic.
Decision is based on lame excuses ............. .............. ......................
A name is just a name, brit. They call Qatar a "State", don't they?
Come on WT. You can't call it an Expressway if the limit is 80. Sound logic
So, the reason is a request from the Advisory Council? What about some statistics? Was the number of accidents reduced? If so, keep the 80 km/h. If not, well, then give them 200 km/h. The Traffic department should act based on hard evidence and not upon the wishes of some frustrated Qataris.
