Video: Shisha Smoking, A Common Pastime in Qatar
Shisha smoking is a common pastime here in Qatar because it is socially accepted and encouraged. This activity is at the center of many gatherings in Doha.
According to the huffington post, a new discovery about smoking shisha has been discovered. Researchers had found that some toxins in hookah smoke are actually found at greater levels than in cigarette smoking, particularly urine levels of benzene byproduct (which raises leukemia risk) and breath levels of carbon monoxide.
“Just one evening of smoking shisha could make nicotine urine levels spike by more than 70 times, and also result in the increase of cancer-causing agents, according to the study published in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention."
