Tunisian Minister of Tourism and Acting Minister of Transport Rene Trabelsi praised the work accomplished at the resort, which represents a distinguished Qatari investment in Tunisia and reflects the strength of the distinguished Qatari-Tunisian relations in all fields.
HE the Chairman of Qatari Diar, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al Thani, said in his opening speech that Qatari Diar is delighted to open this resort, which it hopes will be one of the main tributaries and distinct addition to tourism in Tunisia.
HE Sheikh Joaan thanked the Tunisian government for providing continuous support and cooperation during the project.
The opening of this resort is the culmination of the company's ongoing work over the past years since Qatari Diar purchased an area of 400,000sq m in Tozeur in order to create a distinctive desert resort based on the cultural heritage of the region to provide a distinct experience bearing the imprint of Qatari Diar, said the CEO of Qatari Diar, Eng. He further mentioned that the company has allocated a huge investment of more than 222 million Tunisian dinars (about QR284 million) for the project.
Five local contractors had been employed for all the work in the project, Al Attiyah said, adding that the company also focused on the use of homemade materials that accounted for about 84 percent of the raw materials used in the project.
At least 238 Tunisian employees were hired for the project, 72 percent of whom are from Tozeur.
The Chairman of Minor Hotels Group, Bill Heinecke, the owner of the Anantara brand, said that the project is one of the best Anantara hotels in the world and the company is proud to select Qatari Diar to manage this unique resort.
