Report traffic violators to ministry using phone app

Smartphone users having the Interior Ministry’s Metrash 2 application can now send photos of traffic violators directly to authorities.

The ministry said on its Facebook page yesterday that to use the new app, users should log in to the app, go to General Services and select Take Photo and send with remarks.

“Now you can send pictures of violations using Metrash 2. Log in and go to ‘General Services’ and select ‘Take Photo.’ Enable GPS in your phone, take the photo,  write your comments and then click on ‘send’ button. It will reach the concerned department,” the ministry said.

With Matrash 2, citizens and residents can access more than 35 services of the ministry within and outside the country.

Smartphone users could download Matrash 2 by sending a text message typed as M2RE followed by the Qatari Identity card number (QID No.) and QID expiry date (M2RE xxxxxxxxxxx (QID No.) xx/xx/xxx (QID expiry date) to 92992.

Taking photo on ones traffic violator while driving is not a crime to avoid such things.Let someone beside you or your companion can take a photo but it must shown that it's not on your part (proof that you didn't take the shot).

Dashboard cameras are all the rage in Russia where the drivers like to have evidence in case of an accident and dealing with possibly corrupt officials.

Any one journey here with a camera will fill a six month slot in the UK on "Bad Driving". Photographing bad driving here is the same as counting the grains of sand on the Corniche, a pointless never-ending pursuit.

YKK, are you missing the smart QID part?

I read the same in todays Gulf Times, but it says you need the Smart QID to register on METRASH2.

If will be very happy if you are right, cause I can stand at Radisson Blu while having a Karak Chai at 6am and record a large number of traffic Violators. I am scared of them as most of the time the entire 1st lane is turning left from the signal going straight.

And Most of the time the Cops are having tea at the joint near by and when I told them about the dangerous practice. Their answer was, "Why you complain" they will be going.to the signal later.

It makes sense. Police can not be everywhere.... it is all citizens and residents responsibility to make sure that traffic rules and other civic standards are being followed. For instance if you throw something on the flow in Germany someone will definitely ask you to pick it up and put it in a garbage can. If you violate traffic someone will report you. Once residents reach higher level of awareness rules will be enforced and violations drop.

It is an excellent move. As for taking picture while driving most of the time we are stuck in taffic and that's when violation happen. I already took a few photos.... hopefully i can forward them to police. The situation in the streets is simply appauling.

Just remember that using the phone while driving is a violation. Will this stop people from using their phones? Also the app requires requires you to use your phone to take pictures of other motorists.

Not sure how effective this will be, and how they will manage this app!

Seems like a good idea for all these people that double park on the street and block roads for civilized people. I will be using this app.
