Qatari Ministry issues alert over ‘Aab’e Dubai’ drinking water
The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has warned citizens and expatriates against using ‘Aab’e Dubai’ drinking water for allegedly containing a kind of bacteria.
“The product ‘Aab’e Dubai’ packed and produced in the United Arab Emirates in 2016-17 failed laboratory tests conducted by Oman Municipality,” Al Sharq reported, quoting Dr Mohammed bin Saif Al Kuwari, Assistant Undersecretary for Standards and Specifications at the ministry.
The laboratory report suggested that the product was infected with a bacteria and the authority concerned in Oman recalled and destroyed the products, said Al Kuwari.
“The committee for monitoring foods has been contacted on urgent basis. The records at Abu Samra boarder check post confirmed that the product didn’t enter Qatar recently. It was also agreed to survey the local market as a precautionary measure,” said Al Kuwari.
He called on people to avoid using the product until the issuance of an official statement.
