Qatari coast guard seize 1.8 million pieces of illegal tablets coming in from the UAE
Qatari security officials have always been extra cautious when it comes to stopping smugglers in their tracks. But that has not stopped criminals from trying to smuggle their goods into the country.
Alert coast guard officials seized a boat carrying 1.8 million pieces of illegal Tramadol pills in the country’s territorial waters recently, reported The Peninsula.
The boat, which was carrying the mammoth cache of illegal drugs, had started its journey in the United Arab Emirates and was stopped in Qatar on October 15.
The Coast and Border Security patrols carried out a detailed search and the smugglers confessed that their point of origin was the UAE. Documentation on their self also confirmed this to the officials.
The seized material and crew were forwarded to the Anti-Narcotics Department to complete legal procedures.
