Based on 'user-contribution'? And 254 entries? This isn't a scientific index at all. It's more like the user-reviews on Amazon.
Indeed.........! Qatar is the most safest place to live! And No Doubt "Qatar Deserves the Best"!
We are at the top and will remain so ...... Congrats .......... !!!
While Qatar does not witness street crime which is no doubt is at its lowest, a high degree of white-collar crime does exist.. They do not fall within the bracket of "crime" and thus evade the statistics, but they do exits in painful numbers. The people involved in such "criminal" activities are the unscrupulous employers who know all the ways to keep themselves from coming into the grip of the law. They snatch (snatch is the right word as it is not stealing) the financial benefits of workers, send them home penniless after years of service to their companies.
Is the government aware of these activities? Yes, it is. But they are helpless as these players k-n-o-w how to play with the law and keep themselves safe. Not just that, the system in operation in Qatar gives the worker not much of a chance to get his rightful dues q-u-i-c-k-l-y. Should the case land up in the Sharia Court, it takes months to get a verdict during which period the worker stays without a job or a source of income while the employer rocks on his chair in his office or sleeps peacefully at home.
The Wage Protection Scheme (WPS) was a great step by the government and it brought smiles and lines of joy on the faces of workers. Unscrupulous employers shook and began paying salaries on time. But shortly after the shine of the system wore off, things returned to the same old ways. The crook employers had found ways to bypass the WPS.
True the National Human Rights Committee exists.Yes, they have an impressive office. But they are a toothless tiger. The MADLSA lacks the punch. They should be given so much powers that when an employee files a complaint at their office, it should send shudders up the spine of the employer.
Qatar Living gets to see only a fraction of the sufferings of employees at the hands of the employers. If the government seriously takes action against such unscrupulous employers who rob employees of their hard-earned money, and makes the actions taken against such employers public. Qatar will become the best country in the world to live in for many, many years to come.
