Qatar to prepare for five-day Eid Al Adha Festival

The Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) has begun making preparations to hold a Eid Al Adha Festival that will run for five days.

Various other venues like the Katara Cultural Village will be participating in the Eid Festival. Like every Eid celebration, there will be fireworks at Katara in the evenings.

This was disclosed yesterday by head of public relations at the QTA, Faisal Al Mohannadi. Different activities will be held during the Eid Festival, he told reporters.

Addressing a news briefing, Al Mohannadi said that during the five-day festival various commercial complexes will also be taking part in the Eid festivities.

"We are now getting feedback from the people about the ongoing Qatar Summer Festival," said the QTA's PR director.

The feedbacks particularly about the Entertainment City, are quite encouraging, he said. There has been substantial increase in the number of visitors to the Summer Festival this year than last year's.

For example, in the first week itself the number of people who visited the Entertainment City was 78,900, a huge turnout as compared to last year's Qatar Summer Festival.

According to Al Mohannadi, the Entertainment City draws on average 5,000 to 12,000 visitors a day and on days like Fridays when it is weekly off days, the turnout of people increases beyond 12,000.

"Fridays are the days when the Entertainment City attracts the largest number of people."

Al Mohannadi said that Qatari families are not the only ones visiting and liking the Entertainment City but there has been a rise in the number of expatriate families visiting the facility as well.

Stay tuned for more details about Eid Al Adha activities.

I loved the sparkling LED orchestra in last year's souq fest and dancing fountains on corniche.... Won't mind if Qatar repeats the two items this year as well....It will be enjoyed by all age groups. There should be some entertainment for adults also rather than limiting the celebration only for kids. What will the people with high age groups or lower age groups do who doesnt have their kids or they are not with them??

well my concern is that all religions practices are running out of their original state in majority. this secularism is leading to crimes, Death of social & moral values. due to which we are getting more closer to a wild animal society.

I dont think it right to talk about religion in this forum, i think its best to enjoy Eid however it may come and i think Qatar is trying to make Doha a better place for families to have things to do together. And by the way may i ask which animal religion are you talking about?

this is how the true soul of Eid dies... it has become more materialistic, funky, and mixing up with other religions practices. I'm afraid if it keeps running with this pace, sooner there would be only one Animal religion in the world. history repeats itself.. doesn't matter whether its 1000AD or 2015.
