Qatar open first-of-its-kind ‘red road’ near Doha Corniche! Have you been there yet?
Those who are travelling towards the Doha Corniche may stare in wonder at the ‘bright red road’ which runs alongside the boundaries of the Al Bidda Park, from the Qatar National Theatre to the Emiri Diwan Roundabout.
The street gets its unique red colour because it is paved with red asphalt and it is a first-of-its-kind attempt in the country, reported Gulf Times.
The visually striking road has automated roadblocks, which can be put in place and withdrawn during important events like the National Day. Within a few minutes, the road can be made into a pedestrian-only path, reported The Peninsula.
Al Bidda Park is also one of the main fan zone areas during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The opening of the street is part of the Al Bidda Park project, being supervised by the Private Engineering Office, which is expected to open by the year end, according to Qatar Tribune.
The Al Bidda Park extends over an area of about 2 million square meters and is one of the largest parks in the region.
