Parts of Qatar get rain, wet conditions to continue and peak by next week

The rain gods finally smiled on Qatar yesterday, though it was only briefly and in some parts of the country. But one need not fret as wet conditions are expected to continue and peak by next Monday and Tuesday.

Monday’s rain began in the evening, mainly in the northern and central areas, before extending to other places, reported Gulf Times.

Expect windy conditions in the country’s northern parts, along with a cold night across the country. Offshore areas too are likely to see strong winds and high seas.

The rains will fall today, subside on Wednesday and Thursday, resume on Friday until Sunday and peak on Monday and Tuesday, observed the country’s Met Department.

Meanwhile, the cold spell continued throughout the country, with a number of places recording a minimum temperature of below 10C Monday. Similar figures are forecast for Tuesday as well.

A minimum of 7C in expected in Abu Samra today, followed by 8C in Wakrah, Mesaieed and Al Khor, 9C in Dukhan and 12C in Doha. The maximum, on the other hand, will range from 17C to 22C in the country.

Those who are going out and into the sea, please be careful out there.

shuaibh, Sorry to post again!

//In a multicultural user public platform such as QL, we should be tolerant to others views. Personally, I have come across the phrase "rain gods" many times in various articles, books and conversations. People of other religious affiliations may believe so. I feel calling for the QL writer to take this article down or change it just because it's on "Qatar Living" (which I don't feel represents Qatar) is being intolerant.//

our and others views should not assault each other so for such a multicultural user public platform such as QL it is very important not to write articles that can or may assault the cultures you are talking about not to mention if it touches religious matters. Why we muslims name other assults to us as their right to express their opinion and guess what at my home country !!

Regarding QL, if it is not representing Qatar then what it represents ?! If it is not then i advise to change the website name.

Dear Mahorf, your strong resolve in matters of faith is commendable and I do agree with you. As Muslims we do not associate partners with the Almighty as he is ONE and there is no other. This is the primary and principal belief of Islam.

In a multicultural user public platform such as QL, we should be tolerant to others views. Personally, I have come across the phrase "rain gods" many times in various articles, books and conversations. People of other religious affiliations may believe so. I feel calling for the QL writer to take this article down or change it just because it's on "Qatar Living" (which I don't feel represents Qatar) is being intolerant.

Everybody is entitled to their opinions and perspectives.

"if you guys are that touchy about the muslim way of life, I dare you to open your eyes....etc"

This is true AND we are so touchy for other things as well. However, Instead of being happy that some people did not like and expressed that in their comments, you are blaming them for other wrong things and asking them not to be touchy !!!

i am assuming both of you are muslims, let me remind you of two important points which should help you to set your priorities and judge correctly:

[From Surah Nissa

(48) Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with Him; but He forgiveth anything else, to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin Most heinous indeed.

*** So here you should understand that the phrase used is far worse than anything else you are seeing done wrong anywhere ...

For these other wrong things you as a muslim is supposed and requested to try to change them according to your ability and only if you can.

Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Whoever amongst you sees an evil, he must change it with his hand; if he is unable to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is unable to do so, then with his heart; and that is the weakest form of Faith".

so simply we found something in this website that violates the first ayyah and we are trying to work according to the second point as in the hadeeth and NOT to blame people and asking them NOT to be touchy and be quiet because of other bad things done by other muslims in other muslim countries.

We should understand our priorities and we should understand what is requested and supposed to be done by us and we should work according to our abilities.

we should also understand since we have been told about these two points by Allah and his Prophet (piece be upon him) then it is likely that we are going to see such violations and we should take our responsibility and try to spread positivity. The issue here is that the amount of wrond things done by muslims became very high in a such a way it Frustrates us and making us down.

// And then we wonder why other cultures call us intolerant when they themselves are that way...if you guys are that touchy about the muslim way of life, I dare you to open your eyes and acknowledge all the other things that happen in Qatar and other muslim countries that are not only against the muslim way of life but are completely eroding and destroying it.......my muslim brothers and asking you how saying rain gods on a public forum used by a multicultural user base even matters when there is so much else horribly wrong in our own backyards;//

Well said Mohdata!

Uh dear oh dear... I'm so sorry...i totally completely misunderstood the whole thread... Someone just messaged me in my inbox and pointed out that it was the 'qlreporter' and not Brit that everyone was talking to...i thought Brit said something about rain gods and then couldn't find any comment like that... The rain gods is in the article itself... Sheesh!! When will I learn? But my point still stands that it's nothing to be so sensitive about and it doesn't matter if its Brit or qlreporter... But I do owe an apology to the ql team... They didn't delete any posts and I accused them of it... Sorry sorry very sorry guys... Please don't leave me out of the invitees list for the next ql meet even if I most likely will be asleep and unable to make it... Sincere apologies again ql team that was unfair on my part..

Ok, I cant believe Brit's original post is gone and I cant read it and that QL admins even entertained this sort of objection from other users; seriously? And then we wonder why other cultures call us intolerant when they themselves are that way...if you guys are that touchy about the muslim way of life, I dare you to open your eyes and acknowledge all the other things that happen in Qatar and other muslim countries that are not only against the muslim way of life but are completely eroding and destroying it...im asking the complaining users to reply to my comment and take an oath by Allah in front of us all and tell us if they wake up for the fajr prayer...seriously guys, don't get me started, I will go on and on with your double standards and leave you nowhere to hide...im muslim, I'm not standing up for Brit and I'm rather directly confronting you, my muslim brothers and asking you how saying rain gods on a public forum used by a multicultural user base even matters when there is so much else horribly wrong in our own backyards; and ql team, you can bar and ban me, one of your oldest and most loyal users, but you should be ashamed for removing Brit's comment; you are setting a very negative precedent here and if this is a muslim only site, then you need to make that very clear so other communities don't bother getting on here and head to a more inclusive site; inclusion and tolerance for all views and communities, THAT is the muslim way of life and that is the Prophet's way of life, the Prophet who had Jews and Christians and pagans for neighbours...

britexpat: when you write in a post that represents Qatar and Qataris who are majority are muslims and if you know that muslims live for the sake of "There is no God but AllAH" then you should know and understand that using a phrase like "rain gods" should not been taken lightly. This is totally unacceptable. I am asking the QLreporter to fix this.

mahorf: I don't think it has any religious conotations .. Its a phrase - much like "fit as fiddle" or "Dead asa doornail"

Please don't write rain gods. This is not acceptable to be written in a website representing Qatar.

It feels really cold in the near outskirts of Doha too. A reading of 15 degree Celsius almost feels like 4 instead with all that wind blowing around. Early morning wake up is a nightmare.

Do you not see that Allah sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs [and rivers] in the earth; then He produces thereby crops of varying colors; then they dry and you see them turned yellow; then He makes them [scattered] debris. Indeed in that is a reminder for those of understanding. Quran 39:21
