Partial closure of Sheraton and Dafna Roundabouts from Jan 1, 2014
The Sheraton Roundabout and the Al Dafna Roundabout (near Four Seasons Hotel) will be partially closed from January 1, 2014 according to the Public Works Authority (Ashghal).
The closure is to facilitate work on converting the two roundabouts into intersections. Two lanes will remain open to traffic in each direction.
Work on the two intersections will be completed in two phases, with each phase taking two months, and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of next year, Ashghal said.
The new intersections will comprise three lane dual carriageways, three lanes from Corniche street towards City Centre and three lanes towards Omar Al Mukhtar street, in addition to the side roads to the right of signals.
The project also includes a signalised pedestrian crossing between the two intersections to access the new Qatar International Exhibition Centre and the government buildings in this area without a need to make a U-turn from Al Dafna intersection.
