A multi-level car parking beneath the sprawling 80,000 square metre Hotel Park, just opposite the Sheraton Doha Hotel, will become paid soon.

The underground parking facility, with a capacity of over 2,500 cars, is currently free for public. Parking metres installed at the facility are undergoing trial runs and will soon start to charge parking fees, according to security personnel at the facility.

The underground parking will be managed by Qatari Diar Vinci Construction (QDVC) that specialises in the design and operation of car parks and parking facilities.

The tariff vending machine installed at the parking lot mentions the hourly tariff.

While a parking fee of QR4 will be charged for one hour, the fee will be QR7 for two hours. For three hours, one will have to pay QR10. Parking for the first 30 minutes is free of charge.

For longer parking, up to six hours, the charge will be QR3 per hour and for the full day a minimum of QR50 will be charged.

The underground parking lot consists of four levels with some slots reserved for the staff members of nearby offices. The multi-facility park above the parking lot belongs to Katara Hospitality and is open to public round the clock.

"The parking is free for the public right now but I’ll not mind paying for it in the future for the sake of my family and children," said Filipino national Ariston Acedera, who visits the park frequently.

He said the newly-opened park is very accessible due to the parking lot located just underneath the green patch.
