Qatar has retained its global distinction as the safest country among Arab countries as well as globally after being ranked first regarding safety and security among 118 countries in the world.

Numbeo, which is the world’s most extensive database of user contributed data about cities and countries worldwide, published a report looking at the safest countries to live on planet earth.

Numbeo also provides current and timely information on world living conditions including the cost of living, housing indicators, healthcare, traffic, crime and pollution.

Qatar’s excellent record is an extension of its achievements in the past years, specifically during the period 2015 to ’18, where it maintained the No.1 position in the Arab world, as well as achieving first place globally in ’17 and ’19, reported Gulf Times.

According to the report’s classification rules, countries are ranked in reverse order. It means that the nation which occupies 118th place has the lowest crime rate and ranks first concerning security.

Qatar scored 13.26 points in the crime index, being the lowest score of points starting from zero to hundred. Qatar came first among the safest countries with a score of 86.74pts in the safety index during the current year.

The Numbeo database has been publishing annual reports since 2009, based on the crime rates in the countries of the world.

The index of crimes in countries is measured according to the laws of those countries, which provides a realistic measure of the rate of crime in countries by their applicable laws, according to the Qatar Tribune.

The report also takes into account the different types of crimes and their classification according to the laws on crimes, offences and violations.

Qatar’s excellent scores are due to the continuous efforts of the Ministry of Interior to achieve maximum security and stability in society and protecting lives and property, by the vision 2030.

The Ministry has been working on building an integrated security system, ensuring security throughout the country, as well as enhancing security awareness among the public, which contributed to the decrease in the number of reports and issues of major crimes at the departments.

There is absolutely no doubt about this. It is among the few countries of the world (maybe the only country) where one could go to sleep without locking his doors at night.
