MoI warns against firing guns to the sky at social events
Most of you may have seen it in YouTube videos — guests at weddings and other celebrations branding machine guns and firing gleefully into the sky.
While this may be a joyful activity for those involved, it is also something that will put people nearby in mortal danger. The bullet, which goes up into the sky, gradually loses power and stops before falling back to the ground.
Thanks to earth’s gravitational pull, the bullet gathers momentum as it falls and it becomes just as deadly as if shot from a gun. Whoever the bullet hits on the ground faces grave injuries, sometimes even life threatening.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior (MoI) has strictly warned people against carrying and using firearms during social events.
According to the Arms and Ammunition Amendment Act, 1999, it is prohibited to carry weapons, even if licensed, at official ceremonies or public and private parties.
Be safe and ensure other’s safety, everyone.
"According to the Arms and Ammunition Amendment Act, 1999, it is prohibited to carry weapons, even if licensed, at official ceremonies or public and private parties." Ha, ha, ha. another "law" that isn't worth the paper it's written upon. Poor Qatar!
Brit: You could always pop large size balloons! O)-
We must all be careful and avoid such things
Damn! I was going to do this at Rizks and Chin Tu Fat's wedding - whenever it happens ... :O(
