MOI urges drivers to keep safe distance from the vehicle ahead
Are you a tailgater, who enjoys scaring the bejesus out of unsuspecting motorists? Then you are exactly the person the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is targeting with their safety tips.
The MoI has said that a distance of around 5-10M needs to be maintained between two vehicles in order to avoid accidents. Drivers should further increase the gap if travelling at a high speed.
MoI stressed that keeping adequate distance was vital in avoiding accidents, in case the vehicle in front suddenly stops or slows down. Maintaining a safe distance with the car in front becomes even more important during challenging weather conditions such as fog and dust storms, which lead to a drop in visibility.
MoI further said that statistics indicated that traffic accidents often took place due to the lack of sufficient space between vehicles, with the drivers involved going at a high speed and being unable to avoid a collision when the vehicle in front.
In such cases, the driver of the car that hits another vehicle from behind would be considered the offender as s/he did not maintain adequate distance and was therefore unable to stop on time.
'Keep distance from the vehicle ahead'...what's the fuss is all about? This is not hard to follow.
whats new init it was there since day one...
"brakes"
The brake distance at 80 km/h under normal conditions is 64 m. An emergency stop still requires 32 m supposed that the tires and the breaks are in 100% working conditions. Enjoy it.
Go on accha. No body stops, go on writing.
Harry99: Very true. But then it is a case of writing for the sake of writing whether it makes sense or not.
'What would a poor soul would do if the lazy fellow in the front won't give you way ......... ! ?'
Obviously you are not a driver .. You keep your distance because if he brakes suddenly , you are blamed for the accident
Yup, a very good question. Here are steps you could take if the person ahead of you is "lazy" and does not give way:
Take down his plate number.Find out from the Maroor who the driver was and his/her contact details. Call him or her and give him one of your "valuable" advice on how to drive.
Listen to the reply p-a-t-i-e-n-t-l-y. And if the other side is a lady, don't be surprised if you get to feel the length and strength of the stiletto.
What would a poor soul would do if the lazy fellow in the front won't give you way ......... ! ?
Muad, Today & tomorrow you watch Discovery to find out for your self that a buffalo often challenges a lion ....... and it is true .............
This is wise advice .. A water buffalo never gets close to a lion
