Qatar has always placed the health and safety of its population amongst its top priorities.
This has been even more evident throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as the country began implementing a series of preventive and precautionary measures to ensure the health and wellbeing of its citizens and residents.
Due to the rising numbers of daily COVID-19 cases, the MOEHE decided to move to the distance learning model for all students in public and private schools, preschools and universities, and suspend the in-person classes starting Sunday, April 4.
This decision was taken in close coordination with the MoPH, comes as part of the precautionary measure taken to observe the public interest and ensure the health and safety of students, teachers and administrative staff.
Due to the health conditions linked to COVID-19 and increasing cases, the Ministry decided to move to #distance_learning for students in public/private schools, preschools and universities and suspend in-person attendance starting April 4th.

During the distance learning implementation, teachers will continue to attend schools.
The final exams for all grades will be held in person at schools according to the scheduled dates. More decisions will be taken in this regard later.
The Ministry emphasizes that distance learning is an integral part of the educational process and academic achievement.
Student's attendance will be recorded in this learning model. Students are required to give full commitment to their online lessons for their own benefit.
It further calls on the parents to closely follow up with the students' online attendance, cooperate with the school teachers, and offer their children an appropriate educational environment at home.
The Ministry reiterates that the distance learning model, which was deployed last year in response to the pandemic, is an optimal choice for the students to continue their academic achievement under the current health conditions.
Building on the previous experience, the model has been improved to suit the educational requirements and maximize its benefits to students. The Ministry has been working tirelessly to allow students to continue their education under any circumstances.
In the same context, the Ministry reaffirms that all precautionary measures taken across the State schools have been efficient and effective, and ensured a safe environment for all students.
The decision to return to distance learning has been opted for in order to provide additional protection for the students following the rising number of COVID-19 cases across the community, which may lead to the risk of the virus outbreak in the educational environment.
