Lekhwiya beat Al Sadd in penalties to lift Emir Cup 2016
Qatar's Lekhwiya football club beat Al Sadd in their own turf to lift the club's first-ever Emir Cup Friday night.
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani attended the final game of the tournament that took place at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium, Al Sadd's home ground.
Lekhwiya won the game 4-2 on penalties after the game had ended in a 2-2 draw.
Baghdad Bounedjah scored for Al Sadd on 62nd minute and Abdelkarim Hassan added a second five minutes later.
Lekhwiya responded quickly with two quickfire goals from Chico Flores and Nam Tae-hee in the 70th and 77th minute to take the game into extra time.
While Lekhwiya managed to score in all attempts, Al Sadd missed to chances and gifted Lekhwiya their first Emir Cup.
The win was the third for Lekhwiya over Al Sadd this season, having won 4-2 in the league and 4-1 in the Super Cup (Sheikh Jassim Cup) in January.
