Katara Cultural Village all set to unveil futuristic planetarium on Qatar National Day
A few weeks back, it had been revealed that Qatar was working on the completion of a futuristic planetarium, the country’s first, at the Katara Cultural Village.
The news had been received with great joy by the country’s science enthusiasts. Now here is news that will bring even greater joy — the Al Thuraya Planetarium is set to open its doors on December 18, the Qatar National Day.
The high-tech planetarium, a first-of-its-kind facility in the country, is constructed over 2,240SqMs. It is expected to offer visitors with a rare experience — especially students, families and astronomy enthusiasts, reported The Peninsula.
The hall of the planetarium will seat 200 people, with four seats each reserved for the disabled and elderly. The planetarium will be home to a gigantic screen measuring 22M. The facility will also boast of a vast terrace overlooking the sea, which will host events and activities in the future.
The planetarium is expected to add to Katara’s already rich line-up of attractions for visitors to the iconic location.
The planetarium will add 12 more buildings to Katara, which will host a chain of restaurants and cafes, libraries, exhibition hall, cinema and several cultural centres.
