International Chamber of Commerce Qatar offers legal lessons to all
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Qatar has launched a new monthly series that aims to help everyone from business executives to students learn about arbitration issues.
Attorneys from Squire Patton Biggs presented the first seminar, titled ‘Drafting Arbitration Clauses,’ reported Gulf News Journal.
“Launching the Arbitration Series and bringing together some of the top legal experts in Qatar and ICC to share their knowledge with the Qatari community emphasises our continuous mission to facilitate sustainable economic growth and development in Qatar,” Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani said.
“Strengthening the role of arbitration in Qatar provides an efficient alternative mechanism for dispute settlement, accelerating the growth of local businesses, and stimulating international investment flows and trade.”
ICC Qatar’s Commission on Arbitration and ADR manages the monthly series, which will focus on fostering development of trade and investment between Qatar and businesses in the international community.
The idea is to inform professionals across Qatar — businesses, governmental agencies and public and private sectors — about arbitration.
