The number of public parks in the country has steadily been increasing and all of them boast of great facilities to make things easier for people visiting them.

The Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, in an effort to increase entertainment facilities for visitors at public parks, is set to offer free Wi-Fi at all parks this year, reported The Peninsula.

“The department has already opened 92 public parks and is gearing up to offer Internet facility in all these parks in 2018. We also plan to install cameras in all the parks,” said Director of Public Parks Mohammed Ali Al Khori.

While the Rawdat Al Faras zoo is set to open, more animals will soon be brought in to the Al Khor Park.

While 38 of the 92 public parks are located in Doha, it is followed by Al Rayyan (20 parks) and Al Shahaniyah, which has three parks. All others are spread out across the country.

The new public parks are better as in they have fitness equipment, fountains, sunshades, fence, LED lights and football and basketball stadiums to meet international specifications.

Regarding energy-saving, he said, “The department focuses on the use of the modern irrigation system to save water consumption in addition to energy-saving as LED lights have replaced the traditional ones.”

The new irrigation system has been a huge success in reducing water consumption for irrigation. It saves 50% of water and helps in keeping the plants healthy and green while ensuring good level of growth.

To increase greenery, the department will plant new local types of plants that can survive in the high temperature. The department has planted about 41,000 environmental and wild trees in the last five years.

Thankful to the Ministry for the wonderful parks opened across Qatar where our kids can enjoy at least on a day to day basis.

Would love it if there were parks opened or consider for areas like Al Saad, Bin Mahmoud, Mansoura, Najma, Muntazah...

As a parent, am not so much for the WiFi in parks. I would rather love to enjoy with my kids or see them have fun. Just my point of view.

I believe if qatar wants to attract more visitors then they should have more national park with lots of animals and trees.

Animals : More ORYX, camel, zebra and deer should be brought and leave then free in national park.
