Citing astronomical calculations, Qatar Calendar House has said that the holy month of Ramadan will be for 29 days this year and will end on June 24.

Accordingly, the first of Shawwal — Eid al Fitr day — will be on Sunday, June 25, QCH Director Dr Mohamed Al Ansari and noted astronomer Dr Beshir Marzouk said, according to Gulf Times.

Meanwhile, another report in India.com said that countries which started fasting from May 27, like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon and the United States among others, will start looking for Eid moon from Saturday evening.

If the moon is sighted in these regions, the first day of Eid al Fitr will be observed on Sunday. Otherwise, Eid in these countries will be celebrated on Monday, June 26.

According to astronomers, the new moon can be seen on Saturday, but its visibility will depend on meteorological conditions. Some reports suggest that the moon is set to be visible to the naked eye in Equador, Peru and islands located in the Pacific Ocean.

The moon will also be visible with optical aids in parts of Saudi Arabia and Yemen.

Eid Holidays are only for Government Emloyees not for private ppl, pvt staff got 3 working days only out of 1 day eid holiday and two days to start site work again as normal. So pvt staff cant plan any holiday specially construction staff.

Hope the Qatar Calendar House has followed diligence because most reliable sources have said that it would be impossible to see the new moon in the Arab region on 24th June.
