Being a part of the lively Eid Al Adha celebrations at Al Khor Mall

After enjoying a few days of Eid holidays, I was bored stiff with inactivity and wanted to go on a long drive with just soft music as my companion.

I was thinking on what to do and then it struck me… a drive to Al Khor Mall would be just what I need. So I got up and got driving.

The roads were largely empty and I could maintain good speed (but never once over-sped).

I reach Al Khor Mall and the festive mood immediately hits me. The mall was saturated with Eid decorations and I could hear loud music and cheers coming from somewhere.

I walked on and the first thing to catch my eye was the #Emojoy booth, for which Qatar Living is also a partner. A lot of children were having a blast playing games and winning small goodies as prizes.

When I went up the escalator, some young acrobats delighted me with amazing circus moves. They were so young and confident and seemed to drink in the enthusiastic cheers of the crowd.

Anybody who’s going to Al Khor Mall, please double check the timings of entertainment options. Immediately after I reached, entertainment activities stopped for an hour for prayer. It’s not going to be a problem if you have a leisure evening ahead, but otherwise it pays to be prepared.

While walking down the stairs, someone shouted that there was an entertainment troupe parading the complex. I heard them before I saw them.

A number of artists, dressed in colourful joker attires, were juggling things, playing a trombone, doing acrobatics on a high cycle and generally ensuring that everyone had a good time. And believe me, they rocked. See this video as proof.

I also shot a video of the joker jugglers/musicians in action. Boy, oh boy, are they talented.

All in all, I felt it was an evening well spent. The show will be on today as well. So if you have nothing better to do, make it a point to visit the malls. You won’t be disappointed this Eid. Happy holidays.
